일지매
1975년부터 약 3년간 《일간스포츠》 지면에 연재된 『일지매』는 1978년에 한차례 단행본으로 출간되었으나 군부 독재의 검열을 거치며 상당히 훼손되고 말았다. 태어나자 마자 버려진 아이 일지매가 운명에 휩쓸려 고국을 떠나지만, 자신의 뿌리를 찾기 위해, 사랑하는 사람들을 지키기 위해, 그리고 조국의 운명을 수호하기 위해 다시 돌아오는 장대한 여정을 그린 고우영 작가의 순수창작만화로 2004년, 애니북스에서 연재 당시의 원고를 되살린 최초의 완전판이 복간되었으며 2025년 문학동네에서 출간한 『일지매』 전자책은 기성 서체로 대체했던 만화 대사들을 저자의 필체를 본떠 만든 ‘고우영체’로 바꾸어 재편집한 것이다. 2026년 종이책 출간예정이며 2005년 프랑크푸르트 국제 도서전 <한국의 책 100> 선정, 2009년 고우영 『일지매』 원작 황인뢰 연출 정일우, 윤진서 주연 MBC 드라마 '돌아온 일지매’ 방영
Iljimae
Serialized in Ilgan Sports from 1975 over three years, Iljimae is a fully original creation by Ko Woo Young. It follows an abandoned child who leaves his homeland but ultimately returns to protect his loved ones and the fate of his country.
Though first published as a book in 1978, heavy censorship during the military dictatorship severely compromised the work. A complete restored edition was finally released in 2004 by Anibooks. In 2025, Minumsa published an e-book edition re-edited with dialogue restored in the Ko Woo Young Typeface, recreating the artist’s handwritten style. A print edition is scheduled for 2026.
The work was selected as one of Korea’s 100 Books at the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair and adapted into the 2009 MBC drama The Return of Iljimae.
