십팔사략(전 10권)
『십팔사략』은 중국의 전설시대로부터 송나라 말까지 대략 4천여 년의 역사를 다룬 작품으로 사마천의 『사기』를 비롯하여 18종의 정사를 압축하여 풀어낸 약전이다. 신문연재가 아닌 동아출판사의 제안으로 1994년부터 3년에 걸쳐 완성한 만화로 2004년 출판사의 실수로 원화 전량을 분실하는 사건으로 인해 그 후 문학동네에서 출간되어 오고 있다. 창작물이 아닌 역사서를 원작으로 했다. 고우영다운 역사 해석이 돋보이며 줄거리 자체보다 등장인물들의 인간드라마에 초점을 뒀다. 중국사에 사전 지식이 없어도 대략적인 중국사의 흐름을 알 수 있는 기본 교양서.
