고우영展
: 청강만화도서관 재개관 기념전 및
고우영 만화가 타계 20주기 헌정 프로젝트
이번 전시는 고우영 선생의 대표작과 원고, 스케치, 그리고 그의 창작 세계를 엿볼 수 있는 다양한 자료들로 구성되었습니다. 특히, 작가 연혁을 연도별이 아닌 나이별로 표시하여, 고우영 선생이 각 연령대에서 어떤 삶을 살아왔는지를 조명하였습니다. 청강대의 젊은 학생들이 이를 통해 ‘이 나이에는 이렇게 살았구나’라는 감흥을 느낄 수 있도록 하였으며, 선생이 세상을 떠난 후에는 ‘+1, +2, +10, +20’과 같은 방식으로 그의 유산이 어떻게 이어지는를 말하고자 하였습니다. 그의 작품을 통해 우리는 단순히 옛이야기를 읽는 것이 아니라, 시대를 뛰어넘어 공감할 수 있는 ‘우리의 이야기’를 다시금 만나게 될 것입니다. 이번 전시가 그의 작품을 다시 읽고, 그의 유머와 통찰을 새롭게 발견하는 계기가 되기를 바랍니다. 또한, 고우영 선생의 작품을 사랑해 온 독자들은 물론, 이제 막 그의 만화를 접하게 될 젊은 독자들에게도, 미래의 이야기꾼이 될 학생들에게도 이 전시가 의미 있는 시간이 되기를 바랍니다. 고우영 선생의 이야기는 세대를 넘어 계속해서 읽히고 새롭게 해석될 것입니다. 앞으로도 그의 만화가 많은 이들에게 영감과 즐거움을 주어 미래의 이야기꾼, 제2, 제3의 고우영이 나오기를 기대합니다. _전시 서문 중에서

The Storyteller of Our Time, Ko Woo Young
A Tribute Exhibition on the 20th Anniversary of His Passing Commemorating the Reopening of the Chungkang Comics Museum
This exhibition was composed of Ko Woo Young’s representative works, original manuscripts, sketches, and a wide range of archival materials offering insight into his creative world. Notably, the artist’s life was presented not by calendar year, but by age, highlighting how he lived and created at each stage of his life.
This approach allowed young students at Chungkang College to reflect on the question, “So this is how one lived at this age,” while the period following the artist’s passing was represented through markers such as “+1, +2, +10, +20,” illustrating how his legacy continues to unfold after his death.
Through Ko Woo Young’s works, audiences are invited not merely to revisit old stories, but to rediscover “our stories”—ones that transcend time and remain deeply relatable. The exhibition hopes to serve as an opportunity to reread his works and rediscover his humor and insight anew.
This exhibition is intended to be meaningful not only for long-time readers who have loved Ko Woo Young’s comics, but also for younger audiences encountering his work for the first time, and for students who may become the storytellers of the future. Ko Woo Young’s stories will continue to be read, reinterpreted, and passed on across generations. It is our hope that his comics will continue to inspire joy and imagination, giving rise to future storytellers—the second and third Ko Woo Youngs yet to come.
